A public art project focused on IVF egg donation could soon be coming to a space near you.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Acclaimed artist Stuart Semple recently spoke to the Bournemouth Echo about his latest project – six large outdoor installations which will pop up in cities across the UK on Thursday, September 1st<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

The series, called \u2018Something Amazing\u2019 was commissioned by The Fertility Partnership \u00a0and\u00a0we partner with all of their clinics to provide the IVF programmes. The aim of the art project is to raise awareness of infertility and egg donation.\u00a0Every year thousands of women go abroad for egg donation treatment as there can be long waiting lists in UK clinics. Approximately 1,100 woman donated their eggs in the UK in 2013, which is the latest publicly available data from the HFEA.<\/p>\n

In addition to the large pieces of art on display in Southampton, Oxford, Chelmsford, Glasgow, London and Nottingham, Mr Semple has created 1,000 limited edition screen-prints which will be given to members of the public. He hopes that this will inspire people to talk about the selfless act of donating.<\/p>\n

He told the paper: “Hopefully the project will be uplifting, bringing a little unexpected happiness to people\u2019s mornings! But importantly, I\u2019m also hoping of course that these temporary public sculptures, and the art pieces that we are giving away, will encourage some important discussions about egg donation and fertility.\u201d<\/p>\n
