Undoubtedly, IVF is a very expensive process, and depending on your circumstances, you may have considered loans for IVF. In this article, we take a look at IVF loan programs, how they work, and how they differ to our Access Fertility plans.

For many people, the huge lump sum for a round of IVF is a cost that they simply cannot afford. If you’re not eligible for IVF treatment on the NHS, loans for IVF may be of interest. Taking on debt is a big decision, for any reason. What’s more, the last thing you want when you’re trying to conceive is any unnecessary additional cost or stress. One option may be a regular bank loan, but consider whether specialist IVF loan programs, often offered by the fertility clinics, might be better. On the one hand, these specialist loans for IVF tend to be slightly more expensive. However, the loan company will usually liaise directly with your clinic, reducing the admin burden.

Just like any other loan, loans for IVF must be paid back within a set timeframe. Furthermore, they usually cost quite a lot more than the value of the loan in the interest you will pay. Meanwhile, Access Fertility has two primary types of programme:

By using an Access Fertility programme, you can lower the cost of your IVF treatment, reducing the financial burden. In the case of our refund programmes, should you be unsuccessful in having a baby, you would receive up to 100% of your money back. For many patients, that refund has meant they can go on to consider other routes to starting a family, such as adoption. Alternatively, others have used the money to fund another IVF cycle, to top up their finances, or pursue a different dream, such as a trip abroad.

Access Fertility’s programmes lower and fix the cost of IVF treatment, and offer a refund if that treatment isn’t successful. However, they do require payment up front. If you don’t have those funds available, it may be an option to pay for an Access Fertility treatment using a loan. That way, you benefit from the lower cost of treatment, and still have the option to receive a refund, should you unfortunately not have a baby at the end of your plan with us.

We understand that embarking on your fertility journey can be confusing and overwhelming. That’s why we’re glad to offer free 30 minute fertility nurse consultations to answer any questions you have. Alternatively, contact our expert patient advisors, who can help guide you on the next steps.

Undoubtedly, IVF is a very expensive process, and depending on your circumstances, you may have considered loans for IVF.
