Undoubtedly, IVF is a very expensive process, and depending on your circumstances, you may have considered loans for IVF. In this article, we take a look at IVF loan programs, how they work, and how they differ to our Access Fertility plans.
Financing your IVF through an IVF loan programme
For many people, the huge lump sum for a round of IVF is a cost that they simply cannot afford. If you’re not eligible for IVF treatment on the NHS, loans for IVF may be of interest. Taking on debt is a big decision, for any reason. What’s more, the last thing you want when you’re trying to conceive is any unnecessary additional cost or stress. One option may be a regular bank loan, but consider whether specialist IVF loan programs, often offered by the fertility clinics, might be better. On the one hand, these specialist loans for IVF tend to be slightly more expensive. However, the loan company will usually liaise directly with your clinic, reducing the admin burden.
How loans for IVF compare to Access Fertility programmes
Just like any other loan, loans for IVF must be paid back within a set timeframe. Furthermore, they usually cost quite a lot more than the value of the loan in the interest you will pay. Meanwhile, Access Fertility has two primary types of programme:
- IVF refund programmes (including the Unlimited IVF Programme and the IVF Donor Egg Refund Programme). You pay in advance for these programs, but at a heavily discounted rate compared to the standard clinic fee. Critically, if sadly you don’t have a baby at the end of your treatment, you will receive up to 100% of your money back.
- Multi-Cycle programmes – again, these are paid in advance, but the cost of each cycle will be much lower than the standard fee at the clinic. What’s more, you have the reassurance of fixing the cost of treatment in advance.
By using an Access Fertility programme, you can lower the cost of your IVF treatment, reducing the financial burden. In the case of our refund programmes, should you be unsuccessful in having a baby, you would receive up to 100% of your money back. For many patients, that refund has meant they can go on to consider other routes to starting a family, such as adoption. Alternatively, others have used the money to fund another IVF cycle, to top up their finances, or pursue a different dream, such as a trip abroad.
Combining IVF loan programmes with Access Fertility
Access Fertility’s programmes lower and fix the cost of IVF treatment, and offer a refund if that treatment isn’t successful. However, they do require payment up front. If you don’t have those funds available, it may be an option to pay for an Access Fertility treatment using a loan. That way, you benefit from the lower cost of treatment, and still have the option to receive a refund, should you unfortunately not have a baby at the end of your plan with us.
