Since coming on board earlier this year, Mayte Martín has well and truly established herself as a key member of the team here at Access Fertility. Tasked with growing our footprint in Spain, she’s already build relationships with our partner clinics, helped unite our Spanish team and overseen the launch of an exciting new campaign in the market. In this interview, we learn a bit more about our talented teammate.

Where are you from, Mayte?

I was born and bred in Madrid myself, and now I’m raising my children here too. I love it!

What did you do before coming here?

I’ve always worked in managing businesses that have some form of ‘retail’ distribution – both franchises and independent organisations. I have quite a lot of experience in the healthcare sector, which has really helped as I came on board with Access Fertility, since it’s an area that requires sensitivity.

I’m used to managing teams, working alongside patients and taking part in the running of the business.

What do you do here at Access Fertility?

I look after the relationship with all our partner clinics here in Spain. My job is to grow our network of clinics, and adapt our international strategy to the Spanish market. It’s really all about delivering Access Fertility’s international approach and growth in Spain.

What drew you to work for Access Fertility?

I love working in healthcare. I find it really satisfying to work for a company offering products or services that have a positive impact on the lives of the people they help. Access Fertility helps people in the most important way – to start a family. Is there anything more beautiful? What’s more, it’s a sector experiencing quite a lot of growth, which for my personal development, offers something special – the chance to create something new.

What do you enjoy most about your work here?

We’re currently launching a project which is two years in the making, which is brilliant to roll out, and achieve what we set out to do here in Spain. I love working in different environments, and work collaboratively with all the different partner clinics. It’s really interesting.

Tell us something interesting you’ve learned in your time here so far

I’ve learned so much, because before coming here I wasn’t familiar with the fertility world. The truth is, I think the general public really lacks a lot of knowledge about the subject.

I’ve met some fantastic people in my time here so far. We’re going through a real period of collaboration, and I’m learning new things every day from each member of the team.

Outside work, what hobbies do you have?

I really enjoy yoga, and like most sports, both playing and watching. Spending time hiking, and enjoying nature with my family is one of my favourite things to do. One of my favourite spots to go walking is the Sierra de Guadarrama, just outside Madrid.

I like reading old novels, and any period drama always gets me hooked too. I’m really into painting, so it’s lucky I live in Madrid – we have some great galleries here. I’m actually just about to start a paining course.

The truth is I’m a very active person – always making plans. Also, with teenage kids, we’re just entering a really fun new phase, and it’s lovely being able to share more experiences and time together.
